A Three-Way, Sealed-Cabinet Design With Dedicated Midrange and Twin 6" C-CAM RST III Bass Drivers

The Silver Centre 8G is the dedicated center-channel speaker for Monitor Audio's Silver Series 8G, designed to anchor a home theater system with clear dialogue and precise imaging. Its three-way configuration combines twin 6" C-CAM RST III bass drivers with a dedicated 3" C-CAM RST III midrange driver and 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter.

Separating the midrange from the bass drivers allows the Silver Centre 8G to dedicate its driver complement to the frequencies most important to voices while retaining the output capability required for movie soundtracks. Monitor Audio specifies crossover points of 620 Hz between the bass and midrange sections and 3 kHz between the midrange and tweeter.

C-CAM RST III Drivers

The two 6" bass drivers and 3" midrange driver use Monitor Audio's C-CAM construction with Rigid Surface Technology III cone geometry. The dedicated 25 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter handles high frequencies, giving the Silver Centre 8G a driver architecture designed specifically for three-way operation rather than asking the bass drivers to cover the full midrange.

Sealed Cabinet With Through-Bolt Bracing

Unlike a reflex-loaded design, the Silver Centre 8G uses a sealed enclosure. Monitor Audio pairs the cabinet with its Through-Bolt Technology, which braces the drivers to increase cabinet rigidity and reduce unwanted resonance. The sealed configuration also eliminates the need to accommodate a rear-firing reflex port when positioning the speaker in a home theater installation.

The Silver Centre 8G is sold individually and is available in High Gloss Black, European Walnut, and Satin White finishes.
