Marantz CINEMA 50 SERIES 2 combines nine channels of discrete amplification with immersive surround processing, 8K HDMI connectivity, and integrated music streaming. It delivers 110 Wpc into 8 ohms with two channels driven, making it the central component for a 9.4-channel or Dolby Atmos home theater system. Its 11.4-channel processing and preamp outputs also allow the system to be expanded with an external power amplifier.

The Series 2 design introduces an upgraded 32-bit eight-channel DAC that performs high-resolution conversion across every channel simultaneously. Marantz HDAM-SA2 modules, current-feedback circuitry, and carefully selected components support the receiver’s audio performance, which is tuned by the Marantz Sound Master.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Flexible Room Correction

CINEMA 50 SERIES 2 decodes Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, and DTS-HD Master Audio, along with Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced, 360 Reality Audio, and MPEG-H. Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X can create a greater sense of height and space when overhead speakers are not installed.

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 analyzes the listening room using the included calibration microphone and adjusts the system for consistent performance across the listening area. Audyssey Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume, and LFC are also included. Dirac Live room correction is available as an optional paid upgrade.

8K Video and Gaming Connectivity

Six HDMI inputs accommodate televisions, disc players, streaming devices, and game consoles. All six inputs support signals up to 8K/60 Hz or 4K/120 Hz at 40 Gbps, while three HDMI outputs allow the receiver to serve two displays in the main room and another display in Zone 2. The main output supports eARC for receiving high-resolution audio from a compatible television.

HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, and Dynamic HDR are supported, along with 1080p and 4K upscaling to 8K. Gaming features include Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, Quick Frame Transport, and AMD FreeSync compatibility.

HEOS Streaming and Multiroom Audio

Built-in HEOS provides access to services including Amazon Music HD, Qobuz, TIDAL, Spotify Connect, Pandora, SiriusXM, Deezer, iHeartRadio, SoundCloud, and TuneIn internet radio. CINEMA 50 SERIES 2 also supports Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, and Roon, with playback of high-resolution FLAC, WAV, and ALAC files up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz.

HEOS allows compatible products throughout the home to be grouped and controlled from the HEOS app. The receiver can also retransmit audio to Bluetooth headphones with independent transmitter-volume control.

Ready for Expanded Systems

A complete set of 11.4-channel preamp outputs allows CINEMA 50 SERIES 2 to be paired with external power amplifiers. Its nine internal amplifier channels can also be assigned for bi-amping, a second pair of front speakers, or a powered second zone. Five analog inputs, an MM phono input, four digital audio inputs, four independent subwoofer outputs, and an AM/FM tuner accommodate a wide range of sources.
