Marantz CD 70 CD Player

High-performance digital conversion, Marantz HDAM circuitry, and high-resolution USB playback bring new versatility to a dedicated CD player.

The Marantz CD 70 is designed for listeners who still value a physical music collection but want more flexibility from their digital source. It plays CDs and CD-R/RW discs, while a front-panel USB-A port adds high-resolution file playback from USB storage devices. The CD 70 succeeds the CD6007 in the Marantz CD-player range and adopts the company's current-generation industrial design.

Inside, Marantz combines a high-performance DAC with its proprietary HDAM and HDAM-SA2 circuitry, a DAC master-clock design, selected audio components, and separate rectifier circuits for the analog and digital sections. The chassis incorporates an additional metal plate for reinforcement, while the circuit layout is symmetrical.

High-Resolution Playback Beyond CD

The front USB-A input expands the CD 70 beyond disc playback, supporting FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, and DSD files from compatible USB storage devices. For CD playback, two selectable digital filters let the listener choose between two filter characteristics.

Dedicated Headphone Listening

A front-panel headphone output is driven by a dedicated discrete headphone amplifier using HDAM circuitry. Selectable headphone amplifier gain provides additional flexibility for matching different headphones, and a front-panel control provides direct adjustment of headphone volume.

Flexible System Integration

Along with its two-channel analog RCA outputs, the CD 70 provides coaxial and optical digital outputs for connection to an external DAC or other digital component. Marantz remote-control connections allow integration with compatible Marantz components, and the digital outputs can be switched off when they are not required.
